Roman road trail.
Into Rubiaes on May 19th.
From the top of the mountain it looked like a fast cruise down the other side, but was again rocky , slippery, and wet .
As we headed down I learned that Alois had spent 19 weeks in hospital with Cancer, doing Chemo every day from Monday to Friday for three weeks, then a week off and repeat,,three times.  His doctor finally gave him the OK to do a Camino. And here he is at 67  giving me a run for my money as we chased down the frenchies that woke me up this morning
. Then it happened, there they were,  just ahead through the trees.the sun was out and it was hotter over this side, her husband reached into his pack and pulled out a beige floppy sun hat to cover his head, she did the same, fumbled in her pack for awhile and threw her irritated french hands in the air, must have lost her hat,,,,,,,,or left it behind this morning....,,so sad.
Here I am worrying about trivial stuff really, and I'm walking with a man who survived a horrendous illness, LeAnn who had just lost her husband of less then a year to a heart attack, two months ago, I have a lady in my life who has just been diagnosed with cancer, and I'm free to walk the Camino. Why do we allow trivial stuff, which is normally a communication issue, get in the way of a good life. I look at these people with great admiration, and they will all tell you the same thing, don't sweat the small stuff, and its all small stuff, walk YOUR Camino.
I blew by the froggies, she gave me the " I remember the battle of Trafalga during the Napoleonic wars" look.
South Africa was going to win this international, as I did, I gave the traditional Camino greeting, BUEN CAMINO, they didn't reply,,,,I didnt give back the hat,,,,,,,,,,no wonder everyone thought Napolean was a prick.
Half hour later on a straight stretch, I looked back to judge my lead, couldn't see them anywhere,,,,,with a smirk on my face, I continued on and overshot the tonights Albergue by 3 kl , what a dumbass.

Place for pilgrims to pay respects, coming into town.
Bless and place a stone you have carried, at the base of this cross
If the water wasn't so cold??????
Part of today's trail .
